I've been patronizing Cancun since it opened and can say, with little reservation, that it is the best and most consistent Mexican restaurant in Lubbock. The menu is filled with interesting and delicious options, service is unfailingly good, and the atmosphere is very pleasant, although it would be better still if they ditched the boob toobs. Personal favorite meals are steak chile colorado, Mexican flag enchiladas, (enchiladas rancheras) cheese enchiladas with pork tips, carnitas, chile verde and carne guisada. And if you like hot stuff be sure to request some salsa habanera. It's as good as any salsa I've had anywhere.

Went here a few months ago. Delicious food, great service. Ambiance was also nice, plenty of tvs with different sports ball games.

Great food and service. I got a mixed grill platter. Service was fast as well. I liked the atmosphere. It was simple and had that classic Texmex look.

A great find in a safe area. Mexican food as it should be...full of flavor and delicious. Started with an ice cold Michelada. Oh so refreshing! The scallops, shrimp, and Tilapia in the fajitas were divine. The Stuffed Pablano Peppers...outstanding. Not to mention the best refried beans and rice I've had in a long time. APPROVED!

This was some of the best Mexican food I have had in sometime. I normally do not eat everything on my plate but it was that good. I was impressed with authentic chili rellenos. Normally restaurants used poblano peppers and it just takes away from the flavor. The red chili sauce they use on their enchiladas was very good also. I didn't try the Fajitas, just wasn't in the mood this time but I can only imagine how good they must be. It is a beautiful and clean restaurant with beautiful murals on the walls, I wish I knew the painter...I would hire them to do some work in my home, lol. Can't complain about the service either, they were right there if you needed them. I just wish we had more Mexican restaurants like this in Tyler TX. Now I know I got to go all the way to West Texas to get true and authentic Mexican cuisine..

This Ameri-Tex Mexican chain restaurant serves food that taste fresh! Everything tasted authentic especially the fish tacos. The service was good and food was brought to our table in a timely manner. I appreciated the vibrant feel to the atmosphere. I just happened to be in Lubbock for business, and most likely will try another location.

We were in town over New Year's. Not many places were open, and we decided to try take out from here...I am glad we did. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I try to eat few carbs, which can be a challenge in a Mexican spot...I ordered the Jalisco Special, which came on rice, but I am happy to report that the amount of rice was very small. It was delicious. One of us had arroz con pollo, it was very tasty. Another ordered the Pollo Michoacano, and enjoyed it. Our order was ready quickly and was still hot when we got home with it. We most certainly will choose this spot again.

Great food great service and must go to in Lubbock- ambiance legit feels like Mexico in Texas. No whack Tex-mex here

Went with a group. There were lots of fun choices on the menu, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was laid back. The service was a little lacking, had to flag the waiter down for drink refills and tickets at the end of the meal. Will probably go back again soon.

This was a fantastic Tex-Mex spot in Lubbock. Stopped by at a little after 5:00pm on a Friday and it was already getting packed. By the time we left at 6, not many seats left. Folks know a great restaurant around here! Started off with chips and salsa. The chips were nice and crunchy. Fresh and hot. The salsa was JUST the way I liked it. We added a small guacamole. While it was good, I think the salsa alone would have been fine. I had the Tropical Margarita and loved it. Very smooth and sweat. If you like neither, this isn't for you. For the meal, I had the Pollo Hawaiiano fajita w/ flour tortillas. Wow that was a lot of food. Great shrimp, tough chicken, great peppers & onions, awesome tortillas. I wept because I couldn't eat it all. It also came with rice & beans (both top notch) and bunch of greens where were also fresh. Great staff and great dining room, so I have to say that I loved this spot.
